Welcome to Site Gallery
Site Gallery is Sheffield's flagship international contemporary art centre. The gallery offers a changing exhibitions programme backed up with regular publications and a comprehensive calendar of conferences, artists talks and events. The gallery focuses on an international programme of newly commissioned work supported by the iLab, (a production facility for still and moving image-making), providing a base for international residencies and supporting artists at the beginning of their career.
The development of on-line activities, live art events and off-site projects further our mission to make opportunities for the production of creative work and to present new work to new audiences.

Site has developed an international reputation for exhibitions & projects which show vision, integrity and originality in the choice of themes and artists (Marina Warner) and has gained significant recognition as a leader in the field of commissioning art work, premiering new works and showing artists who have never before exhibited in the UK.
The programme includes work by internationally renowned artists as well as supporting emerging artists through a range of initiatives aimed at kickstarting new careers and aims to explore a broad range of current practice within the gallery's remit of lens-based & electronic media work.
As well as gallery-based exhibitions Site regularly commissions work for the gallery's projection window and realises ambitious off-site & online projects. Site also acts as host for a number of international artists' residencies and also supports the dynamic field of live art with a regular festival.
These activities are often contextualized by a range of talks, events and education projects and internationally distributed publications aimed at developing a critical discourse around contemporary art practice.
Our policy is to present innovative, challenging and creative work addressing contemporary debates and issues within a national and international context. We offer a site for engagement between the artist and the public and a national focus for critical debate surrounding the creative use of the still and moving image.
